Update Brush Fire 08/18/2022 INC#1189 - Update Brush Fire; INC#1189; 04:54PM; 238 S Av 64; ; Highland Park; Fire estimated at two acres and is topography driven (no wind). LAFD Air Ops put in several water drops which slowed the forward progress of the hot flank (Hardison Way side). The terrain on the hot flank steep with heavy brush and firefighters are making their way up, getting handlines in place. South Pasadena Fire also has an engine on scene assisting. Update Brush Fire 08/18/2022 INC#1189 - Update Brush Fire; INC#1189; 05:36PM; 238 S Av 64; ; Highland Park; Firefighters are facing extremely steep, difficult terrain as they conduct a ground based fire attack. Their determined efforts combined with strategic water drops by LAFD Air Ops have continued to hold the fire to less than 2.5 acres and defended all structures from any damage. There is not yet an official 'knockdown' declared but crews have made strong progress and no additional resources are anticipated to be needed. South Pasadena Fire and one engine on scene and LA County Fire is sending (2?) camp crews. Update Brush Fire KNOCKDOWN 08/18/2022 INC#1189 - Update KNOCKDOWN Brush Fire; INC#1189; 05:47PM; 238 S Av 64; ; Highland Park; KNOCKDOWN: Over 80 firefighters battled extremely steep terrain to get hand lines around the fire while LAFD Air Ops laid in strategic water drops. The combined efforts successfully extinguished the fire and prevented any structures from damage. No injuries reported. Crews will remain on scene for an undetermined period to continue mopping up the hot spots. No injuries reported.
