Flooding (Mud) 01/09/2023 INC#2101 - Flooding (Mud); INC#2101; 11:36PM; 3789 N Fredonia Dr; ; Studio City; Approximately 3 to 4 feet of mud (in some places 5 feet) covering Fredonia and moving down hill towards Kentucky Dr. An additional task force added to evaluated the homes and determine if any structures are threatened and what actions, if any, are required by LAFD. Fredonia Dr is completely closed at the incident address and drivers are advised to avoid Fredonia from Wrightwood down to where it turns into Kentucky Dr (to Lankershim). Update Debris Flow 01/10/2023 INC#2101 - Update Debris Flow ; INC#2101; 12:43AM; 3789 N Fredonia Dr; ; Studio City; There is a debris flow moving down Fredonia Dr towards Kentucky Dr. There is 3-4 feet of debris and mud covering the road. Crews are both north and south of the area working to gain access/situational awareness and evaluate all affected (5) homes. Currently, none of the homes firefighters have accessed (all homes on the South side) have any flooding or damage to their homes but they are not able to evacuate due to the condition of the road. It is safer for them to shelter in place at this time. There are two homes on the North side of the street which firefighters have not been able to access. Firefighters will continue working to reach each of the homes. Street maintenance notified and responding. The water is starting to recede, estimated to be down about 1 ft from the level at the start of the incident. There are no injuries reported nor any damage to homes. Update Debris Flow 01/10/2023 INC#2101 - Update Debris Flow; INC#2101; 01:39AM; 3789 N Fredonia Dr; ; Studio City; Firefighters made contact at seven homes on Fredonia which are along the debris flow and there is no damage to any of the homes. There are a total of 17 people sheltering in place in the homes. There are two homes on Wrightwood Lane (just north/west of Bellfield Way) which are affected by the debris flow. The flow went into the backyard of one home with about 1 ft of mud against the back sliding door but it is static and expected to hold. The 2nd home does not have any damage but has debris on side. There are a total of 8 occupants in the homes sheltering in place. Firefighters are continuing to evaluate and assess any other homes believed to be of concern. The water is draining and not increasing. There are no injuries reported. Drivers should avoid Wrightwood Ln to Fredonia Dr down to Lankershim / Cahuenga as this will be an extended duration operation for Street Services to clear the roads.
