LAFD Press Release

Structure Fire 11/17/2023 INC#1633 - Structure Fire; INC#1633; 07:42PM; 3456 E Estrada St; ; #BoyleHeights; One-story single-family home with heavy fire showing. Crews used a transitional attack, and then moved to an offensive (interior) attack. [Transitional Attack: When there is heavy fire or turbulent smoke (imminent flashover) presenting from any door or window, a firefighter can direct a straight stream at a steep angle toward to ceiling. Controlled studies have shown this method greatly increases survivability inside the structure, as firefighters transition to interior attack.]; FS 25; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 14; BC1 BC11 E2 E202 E447 E458 FR91 RA17 RA25 T2 T9; CH9; 12; Nicholas Prange 11-17-23 07:56 PM

KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire 11/17/2023 INC#1633 - KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1633; 08:05PM; 3450 E Estrada St; ; #BoyleHeights; After knocking back a significant amount of heat with a transitional attack, firefighters advanced hose lines inside to get water on the seat of the fire and search the structure for any occupants. It took 32 firefighters 23 minutes to extinguish the flames. Two patients had already evacuated the structure, but were unsure if anyone else was inside. Search teams found one canine pet deceased inside. No other occupants were found inside. Paramedics provided a medical assessment on scene for the two that evacuated. Both were found to be in good condition, but one of them (12-year-old female) was transported for a medical checkup, after the traumatic experience of fleeing the fire. A total of 10 people were displaced from the home (6 adults, 4 children). Red Cross is responding to assist them and a SAVE Card has been issued on scene to help with immediate financial needs. Cause under investigation.
