KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire 01/17/2024 INC#0127 - KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0127; 03:31AM; 1337 N Cherokee Av; ; #Hollywood; Firefighters responding to reports of smoke in the area arrived to find a one-story single-family home with fire showing. While initiating an offensive fire attack, the first engine company found two people trapped behind a security gate inside the structure. Firefighters used forcible entry tools to access the area, and rescued two adult males, who were both transported to a local hospital (1 critical, 1 grave). During the rescue, the fire continued to grow. The engine company resumed fire attack operations after rescuing the two patients, however the fire had grown rapidly. The crew was inside the structure when a flashover occurred. One member was found to have burns on their ears, but all four members of the crew were transported for observation at the hospital. Ultimately, it took 48 firefighters 31 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. PIO Captain Adam VanGerpen is en route (ETA 5:10am) for media requests.
