KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire 03/20/2024 INC#1394 - KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1394; 06:25PM; 20345 W Londelius St; ; #Winnetka; Firefighters responded to a one-story home with heavy fire showing from the attached garage. Crews quickly advanced hose lines inside to attack the garage fire and stop the advancing flames before they entered the living area of the home. Firefighters discovered the garage fire spread into the attic, and put fire attack on pause to perform salvage operations inside (gathering valuables and belongings and covering them to avoid further damage due to smoke or water), before opening up the ceiling and roof to access the burning attic. Ultimately, it took 32 firefighters 25 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the attic fire. One adult female was evaluated for minor smoke inhalation and found to be in good condition. She declined hospital transport. The occupants will be displaced and Red Cross is responding to help them during this transition period. No firefighter injuries.
