There is no fire. As a precaution, ~25 occupants of the the State office building have been calmly evacuated without any injury or illness noted. All occupants of the adjacent American Career College have been asked to shelter in place until the situation is resolved. #LATraffic: Full closure of Vermont Avenue (northbound and southbound) between Rosewood Avenue and Oakwood Avenue until the leak is secured and LAFD operations are complete. COMPLETE - Hazardous Materials Investigation. 07/26/2024 INC#0868 - COMPLETE - Hazardous Materials Investigation.; INC#0868; 02:30PM; 437 N Vermont Av; #EastHollywood; LAFD personnel, including hazardous materials specialists, secured the scene and abated hazards while awaiting the return of a civilian contractor who had formally serviced the leaking ~500 gallon stationary propane tank tank less than 24 hours prior. The leak - which reportedly involved a valve at or near the top of the tank, was readily secured by the contractor, without fire or injury. No ongoing hazard has been identified. All occupants of the two nearest (State office and American Career College) buildings have been allowed to return and/or end their shelter-in-place status. The closure of Vermont Avenue (northbound and southbound) between Rosewood Avenue and Oakwood Avenue is no longer in effect.
