As a precaution, LAPD has been summoned to establish a 300' safety perimeter. Knockdown - Vehicle Fire 09/16/2024 INC#0775 - Knockdown - Vehicle Fire; INC#0775; 02:16PM; 8449 N Laurel Canyon Bl; #SunValley; *Address Corrected* After more than two hours of well-coordinated defensive firefighting operations that contained fire to the City of Los Angeles Sanitation Bureau CNG (Compresses Natural Gas) powered waste recycling vehicle, and prevented injury or damage to any structure, the bulk of flames have been extinguished, and residents of all but two of the 21 homes that were briefly evacuated as a precaution, have been allowed to rehouse. Residents of the two remaining homes closest to the still-smoldering vehicle, will be allowed back into their homes shortly. No injuries were reported. The specific cause of this fire has yet to be determined. NOTE: This incident comes nearly seven months to the day of a violent explosion of a CNG-fueled semi-truck in the City of Los Angeles community of Wilmington on February 15, 2024, that hospitalized nine LAFD Firefighters.
