While an official knockdown has not yet been declared, firefighters have the bulk of the fire extinguished and are reducing the number of resources assigned to the incident. The RS3 Robotic Firefighting Vehicle is on scene to assist with reaching remaining pockets of fire in areas that are not safe for firefighters to enter. There are no injuries reported. Per protocol for a Major Emergency incident, LAFD Arson is on scene for the cause investigation. This will remain an active incident well into the night and citizens are asked to continue avoiding the area. [verified]

This incident is now at the Major Emergency status (over 88 firefighters) and is transitioning to a Defensive Operation. The fire extended to the adjacent large, commercial building. Due to heavy storage load, firefighters were not able to reach the seat of the fire. Additional resources are enroute. Residents are advised to avoid the area of Los Angeles St / Winston St / Wall St / E 4th St. [verified]
