Despite 90°F+ ambient temperature and quick moving flames in volatile grass fanned by shifting 10 mph winds, a well-coordinated effort by LAFD ground and air units has held the fire to seven (7) acres of vegetation north of Burbank Boulevard in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area. No injury. No structures. No evacuation. Firefighters will remain at scene into this afternoon, mopping up hotspots and completing a damp bare soil perimeter surrounding the burned area. The cause of the fire is under investigation. [verified]
